Circle of Greats 2018 Redemption Round
This Circle of Greats (COG) vote is not to induct anyone into the Circle. Instead, this round of voting will:
– select three players who will be restored back to the main ballot after having been previously dropped from eligibility
– select seven more players who will initially populate a secondary ballot to be used to supplement the primary COG ballot in future rounds of COG voting. Continue reading

2017 – Year of the Home Run
As you’re probably aware, more home runs were hit during the 2017 season than in any prior year. A lot more, actually, as the 2017 total of 6105 round-trippers was a whopping 415 more than the previous record season in 2000.

MVP Elections – 2017 AL
Dr. Doom here (via Doug) with our final 2017 awards-voting post. I decided to “save the best for last,” as it were, so we could talk about what may be the most interesting and competitive race in the league.
The American League in 2017 was interesting in that there were only five winning teams in the league. There was one good pennant race (the East) and two dominant, 100-win teams. Oh, and the Twins scheduled their (formerly annual) playoff loss to the Yankees. Continue reading
