Thanks to those of you who participated in our first stat challenge. The results are here, with insertnamehere edging me out to win the league.

After getting my head handed to me yesterday, I’m a little gun-shy. Hooda thunk that many hitters could actually earn you negative points?

I don’t do fantasy baseball any more, but I help a friend with his annual draft in an 8-team league. In the season’s first 3 days, his starting lineup went 8 for 72 with 3 RBI.

I would be fired as a volunteer advisor if I didn’t constantly remind him that IT’S ALL LUCK.

Well Andy, I havent figured out how to get rich off this yet. I’ve never done it before – any kind of gambling on sports takes the pure enjoyment of it away for me. But, yes, I also want to see if we are all as smart as we think we are. Here’s my observations and strategy on this system… You need your starting pitcher to come up big. I just entered for tmrw(today’s) game. My strategy was pick a good pitcher against a weaker team(Santana vs. Royals) and spend my big money on OF’ers and 1B.

Andy, will we be able to view other players’ teams once the game starts?

Too bad this didn’t run… but I entered the same team in 2 other (public) leagues which did run (one is 5 players, the other 10), and I’m in 1st and 2nd in those respective leagues. Too bad for me it was called — my pick of Jeff Samardzija turned out *brilliant.* 8.2 IP, 8 K, and probably a W (though I don’t doubt the ability of the Cubs to blow this), and only cost me $2300. Ah well. 🙂

Yep, I went with Samardzija in a $1 game as well, and I’m 110th out of 837.
20.66 points out of the Cubbie.
Almost everybody else in the top ten has Samardzija.
I’m convinced that the strategy for winning @ fanduel is to eschew the aces, and find the bargain winner in the P spot.

Insert Name Here and I had some overlap, as I also had Molina, Pena and Freese. Sort of glad it didn’t go, since Molina got the day off. I’ll be ready next time.
