Andy, Three comments: 1) Was this as much work as it appears to be?(!) I can’t find any function on B-R that indexes lists of specific players by place of birth, much less by birth and HR. 2) Following up, I was astonished to learn that there have been more players from Saudi Arabia than from the Philippines, which was an American-controlled territory for over 40 years. In the PI Player Season and Game Finders under the Choose a Stat selections there is a Place of Birth selection by country.

Thanks, Richard. Not being a subscriber, I can’t access all the info, but with a little juggling I was able to use this function to answer a question I had about who the three (or two, as it turned out) slugging Jamaicans were.

I wonder how many players were born on dry land but buried at sea

Other than Clemente, I know of only one for sure (there was probably no actual burial involved).

All I can say is hurray for “Honest John” Anderson, the man responsible for 50 of the 54 home runs by players born in Norway, a total which not only exceeds all the neighboring Scandinavian countries by 47 but all but 19 other nations as well.

And best of all he was born in 1873 so I can brag him up some on the ongoing COG election.
